Few people can deny that the original MapleStory had a decent number of die-hard fans who loved the gameplay, artwork, and community established by Nexon. Recently, MapleStory 2 launched and while it wasn’t a major commercial success, those who have grabbed the game absolutely love it. It’s rare for a sequel of a game that’s around 15 years old to find love in the review space from actual fans of the brand, but MapleStory 2 has done a stellar job at delivering a polished MMORPG that, while aimed at people around the age of 20, is still accessible and enjoyable to pretty much anyone. The sequel also encourages some more resource management than its predecessor. Rather than spamming your strongest skill and relying on a pet to automatically refill your health and mana, you actually have to watch your “spirit” levels and strategically use your skills to refill them. This makes the game harder than the original MapleStory, but the skill rotations you need to do to keep your spirit up aren’t complicated, like some other MMOs. The original game’s combat tends to get a little mind-numbing when taking down enemies, but dodging area-of-effect skills on a 3D map and maintaining spirit forces you to pay more attention in MapleStory 2. The world is filled with NPCs, characters are bite-sized and use exaggerated anime expressions, while portraits are eye-catching with their use of vibrant, saturated colors. Even the enemies hardly look menacing despite their lofty, evil goals in the game. Come to mmocs.com now, you can buy MapleStory 2 Mesos with fast delivery and 100% safety. That being said, the overall game aims to be cute, retaining MapleStory’s original charm as an amazing MMO for kids and kids at heart. One particularly fun way to explore MapleStory 2 is using the different mounts you can buy in the Meret Shop. From cars to UFOs, you can get around the map on some pretty wacky vehicles. One of the game’s best features is its in-built UGC system or User Generated Content hub. From a click of a button on the UI, you can access the UGC Workshop and start creating. Create what? Well players can create their own designs and put them on everything, and we mean everything. From weapons to clothing, to mounts and even housing decor, your designs could shine in MapleStory 2 if its good and if the community thinks its good. Better yet, you can then sell your items in the in-game cash shop to earn premium currency for yourself! There were many concerns about Pay To Win when MapleStory 2 was announced for a global release. Things did take a sour turn in the other games – even the Korean version. However, Nexon has bounced back and removed any sort of concerns for its latest release. The in-game cash shop does not sell gear or any loot boxes so that’s a good start. There are premium services like instant travel and even an optional subscription for $5 a month if you want more convenience, but it’s definitely nothing worthy of a mob with pitchforks. Stay tuned on Mmocs for the most timely news and guide for MapleStory 2. |
